THE RAFFLE AT THE END OF THE UNIVERSE
Once again Team GEEK is raising money to support the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. We will be taking part in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Norridge/Harwood Heights on August 3-4, 2012. In our efforts to keep fundraising interesting, we are offering several special raffles this year.

When you donate to one of the team members, put a note on the donation relating to the raffle you wanted to be a part of, and make sure there is a way for us to contact you should you win. Sarah Jane is a handcrafted knit duck created by Team GEEK, a Chicago area Relay for Life group. Sarah Jane is the 2nd of her kind, traveling the world, meeting celebrities, seeing sights, things that cancer patients don’t often find time to do due to cost measures from their treatments or the inability to travel due to health issues. Sarah travels for them. Of course, Sarah represents the late Lis Sladen who passed of cancer a year ago.

This year, only just recently, the world suffered a great loss with the death of Steve Jobs, Apple founder and one of the earliest pioneers in personal computing, from pancreatic cancer.
For many, this was an unbelievable tragedy as one of the world’s most gifted minds was cut short, so many possibilities still ahead of him.
This is the tragedy of cancer. It’s a terrible killer that strikes down thousands per year worldwide, cutting short lives with so many possibilities ahead of them, so many dreams lost.
Last year, I was able to raise over $1000 to contribute to my team’s over $3500 raised for research against cancer.
This year, let’s beat that. We want to raise over $5000 at LEAST, in honor of heroes like Steve.
